Cycle Campaign Network re-launch meeting
Ernie Buck, cycle training and awareness facilitator writes: At its 2008 AGM in Cambridge, the Cycle Campaign Network (CCN) launched a new development plan for the organisation, to raise the profile of utility cycling. You can read the plan on www.cyclenetwork.org.uk. GMCC is a member of CCN along with 60 other campaign groups across the nation although only half a dozen were represented at the meeting. We were delighted to see Warrington Cycle Campaign represented too.
GMCC made its presence felt with searching questions to clarify CCN’s purpose. It was agreed that CCN is there to ‘Empower’, ‘Support’ and ‘Coordinate’ cycle campaigning. With such experienced advisors as John Franklin, author of Cycle Craft and other books, they are well placed to do just that.
CCN now needs someone to take on the role of publicity and communications officer. Such a volunteer would be co-opted onto the board. If you are up to the job, contact secretary at cyclenetwork.org.uk for details.
