Manchester to Chorlton Cycling and Walking Route Consultation
The first public consultation drop-in event for the proposed Manchester to Chorlton cycling and walking route took place on Wednesday 21 November. It showcased the groundbreaking vision for safer streets that has the potential to enable active transport.
It sets the wheels in motion for the second major road improvement scheme in Manchester following the Oxford Road / Wilmslow Road corridor and features similar infrastructure styles, including protected cycle lanes, Dutch-style junctions and Copenhagen style bus stops.
For the purposes of the consultation, its continuous 5km stretch from the Chester Road roundabout to Mauldeth Road / Hardy Lane is divided into four sections, each containing promising initial designs that seek to create safer, people-focused streets.
